Make me move like a freak

Posted under Homemade, News, Running - Nov 1st, 11

Almost exactly THREE years ago these came into my life.

Yes, aren’t they beautiful? That would be the Nike Lunarglide+, a shoe who’s amazing construction was advertised to be equivalent to rocket science.

Three years. That’s how long I beat these babies into the submission. And yes, I do work out.

The result?

Yeah, ew. They are literally disintegrating. The cushioning that used to be there is now pounded down to nothing. The soles sanded down smooth. I was getting large blisters after every work out, it’s not pretty.

Doug, being the sweetheart he is, suggested that we splurge a little to get me some new shoes despite our semi-strict wedding budgeting…

and the result is…

Yayyyyy Nike Free Run+ 2′s!!!

(For those unfamiliar with Nike Free’s… the point is to get your foot to run as though you were barefoot. It’s much better for your body!)

A lovely 6-mile autumn run with my hunny and my puppy proved that these really are spectacular shoes. I’m a happy woman. It was a happy run.

See? Doug is overjoyed about my happy feet:

On another note… I got the crazy idea that I wanted to make my own lollipops for our wedding favor. This crazy idea inspired by a really awesome person who makes fun lollipops and sells them on etsy. You can see the shop here.

I mean look at these Apple Pie lollies with a slice of candied apple in it. YUM.

Well too bad real amateur candy making looks a little bit like this:

and our first batch of candy goop ended up here:

However two batches later, we were making some not so ugly ones… and didn’t taste like burnt rubber

It’s not perfected yet, and who knows I might trash the whole project and end up buying them, but it is a fun project. Well, at least my two helpers were still smiling by the end of it all:

That’s all I have for now. However, Xenu says hello.

Have a good week everyone! I know I’m enjoying a few wonderful days off!

Way to start blogging again, Diane! Woo hoo! So many exciting things going on for you. Like lollipops! That’s such a cool idea for favors, let alone “regular life”!
