Diane’s World

…many enter, few come out the same

“Side effects they don’t advertise…”

Ok… yes my blog was still playing Christmas music. Until today. Sad sad!

I’m sorry world! How else can you stalk me when I’m not faithfully posting often enough!

Well here I am again. Hello.

I’m doing fine. How are you?

Let’s start off with… a month ago. I finally got home after a horrible plane ride of having a bad delayed flight thanks to the Washington snowstorms. It didn’t help me AT ALL that I had a little extra luggage…

yup. Little Schmutzig came on the plane with me. And got stranded with me in Minneapolis. It was… a lot of stress.

But I did meet a really cool guy on the plane that I’m now good internet friends with. He works as sort of a missionary in Sioux Falls -> hanging around homeless shclters and spreading God’s word… and rapping the gospel in the meantime. His myspace is HERE… I’d encourage you to visit it.

So… this is my Christmas break:

Mee mee was learning how to potty train.

Ethie was learning how to walk. Look at Mee-Mee cheer him on!

and Patrick captured EVERYTHING with the cheap-o camera that me and Rachel gave him. Didn’t work so well… but he didn’t seem to mind. He kept snapping away anyways.

Yup. So Christmas was a good time. The highlight for everybody I think was watching how the young’uns reacted to the Christmas season. Patrick especially was all in the Christmas spirit this year.

Now I am back in Iowa… and I am currently undergoing some huge changes.

February 8th will be my last day working at Culvers. I have decided to become a CNA – a Certified Nurse’s Aide. I have about a billion reasons for this decision, including that 1) I will be paid more 2) it’s a more rewarding job 3) I will be able to find a job wherever I decide to move and 4) I will be able to work full time AND go back to school at the same time.

I will be working in a nursing home in Orange City, Iowa, assisting elderly people with feeding, mobilization, hygeine, and pretty much anything that they are not able to do for themselves.

The hospital I’m working for is paying for the class I have to take to get this position… and so far the class is so much fun! I get to actually start working in a nursing home in 2 weeks! I’m extremely excited!

Let’s just say… life is looking up for me.

Oh… and I’ve also gone back to the idea of getting my master’s degree in Germany. So far that is the direction my heart is headed in… so stay tuned for that one! I just need to save up some money first!

And it is also my intention to stay in Iowa for another 1.5-2 years. Why would I leave the one place in the USA that isn’t in an economic depression?

Anyways I’m doing well. I feel healthy, have been loosing some weight from starting a healthier lifestyle, and probably never looked/felt so good in my life. I even learned how to curl my hair with a straightening iron (thanks to one of Rachel’s good friends) and occasionally have curly hair!

Rachel is still my roommate. We still get along. And we still like living together.

Mother.. you must be so proud.

Anyways, I think I may also be losing my sense of humor? A friend of mine – Dave – sent me a note with his favorite moments from my blog. Here are the abbreviated versions:

June 14th 2006
Welp, things have been quite interesting. I got to find out what a diaper looks like when a toddler eats WAY too much watermelon for his own good and doesn’t poop for two days (believe me folks, it ain’t pretty).

June 30th 2006
I went to a wedding today. I hate going to weddings.
I planned mine out: it will be a barn in a hick town, and everybody will be wearing overalls and carrying pitchforks, and the reception will be a barn dance.

June 22nd 2006
I got to spray paint today. Two barstools – black. Going to become a gangster any day now.
Ok… Diane… must… do … homework. Must…do..homework.
Love you all! (Actually that might be a lie as well. I definitely don’t love any creepy stalker people…)

Hahaha I want my sense of humor back. Maybe if I start posting every week again, I’ll be eccentric again.

Ok on that note… I’m getting really really boring. So have a wonderful week people… maybe I’ll start doing a better job of posting.

Bye bye!
Diane

Welcome to the world of medicine. You’ll get a little taste of your dad and mom’s profession. Also, I love the picture of Schmutzy. I stole it for my facebook profile pic. :) Love you.

Nice to hear from you, Deedles! Sounds like you have some good ideas for the future, but we’ll miss having you close.

    hi, deedee,
yfi: the flag you show is not the ordinary one but one for the military forces – think, you did not mean that?

    love from uncle

Hi Diane! We enjoy hearing news from you. I always thought that you or Rachel would be GREAT at being an activity director for the elderly. Carol Anne & I meet quite a few with her Alterheim gigs and they are mostly young and fun girls like both of you. But, they probably don’t make as much….$$$$$
