Diane’s World

…many enter, few come out the same

“I realized that I need you”

I’ve recently been growing very fond of Bright Eyes - this song randomly started playing on my computer and I was immediately in love.I think it’s funny how I always manage to find a song that seems to be talking about my current life situation. I’m vague… I know it. But my life is somewhere in those lyrics, believe me
Ok I’ve been scolded by both of my parents for being a very lousy blog-updater. Unfortunately, I really don’t have any time on my hands recently. I spent most of today trying to make a drawing assignment look decent, but I’m ready to exclaim to the world that I just happen to naturally STINK at drawing.GRR.I’m a bit exhausted of life right now.I hate that I’m graduating early.I hate that I’m going to a place to start over again with not knowing anyone… or the language that they speak.

I hate how I have become sloppy and unmotivated in my school work because my lack of focus.

I hate how I am going to leave a couple of my closest friends ever in only 66 days (yes, I am counting).

I hate how I am not going to be able to speak at my senior art show, or walk for graduation.

I hate how I’m going to hate myself for hating all these things later when I fall in love with Germany.

The finality of my college days have slowly become more and more of a reality. Soon the days that I formally referred to as “when I grow up” are so close they can kick me in the behind. I still don’t think of myself as an adult - but my age and my parents seem to constantly be reminding me that I am one.

Well, I can attest to the fact that I have mellowed out a bit since high school. While searching through an old CD called “Diane’s Old Computer Junk”, I found this poem that I wrote because… well, read it:

A Last Plea for my Old English Seat.

One of the things I hold very dear,
Is the seat I’ve had since my Freshman year.
But now you tell me to get up and pack,
And move to a seat a little ways back.
Never did horror come in such a flash,
My soul was given the hardest whiplash,
My mouth fell open in such a great hurl,
Too much to bear for so little a girl.
I then hugged my seat and told it goodbye,
Then heaved up my pack, and gave a great sigh.
This little move was the hardest to bear,
Making my day and my life become drear.
So Mr. Bond, I give you my last plea,
Whatever you do, I’ll try to agree.

-Diane Marie Feucht
Oh the good days when my worst worry was Mr. Bond moving me to a different seat in English class. (And I would like to add as a disclaimer that he wasn’t moving me because I was talking - he was trying to move a talker to the front of the class. Yes, I was a good student.)

Anyways, enough of that. Last weekend, Chicago was ok. It was waaaaaaay too hot of weather (I’m thinking that if I said it was in the 90’s it wouldn’t be a lie). But Laura and I did have fun. In fact, we wrote a list of interesting things that happened

***THESE ARE TAKEN VERY OUT OF CONTEXT! IF you want the whole story, you’re gonna have to ask me or Laura ;)

1) We saw lots of dead people

2) We hit 5 bars every night

3) Diane got hit on in McDonald’s

4) Diane made out with Phil Collins

5) We made 3 friends while staying overnight in Waterloo, Iowa. One of them worked at Target, was named Candy, and asked us to pick up a Vanilla Ice CD at the used CD store. (this one is actually true)

6) The Train we were riding on broke. (ok, this one is true too)

7) Laura rode her first train / had her first run in with a toll booth

8) We discovered the charming (*cough, cough*) town of Dexter, IA

9) Spent 1.5 hours in Barnes and Noble, only buying MadLibs. (This one’s true too)

10) Laura found her love life in the math books for the next three months

11) We drove past the world’s largest truck stop (True!)

Here are some pictures from Chicago (we didn’t take very many.. but here is what I have):

And finally -Laura and I hosted our Second (and Last :( ) Annual PUMPKINFEST! Basically, I baked a billion things all with the ingredient pumpkin, and had friends over!

Here is what I made:

Pumpkin Bread

Pumpkin Cake

Pumpkin Bars

Graham Cracker/Cream Cheese Pumpkin Dessert

Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin *cough* Cookies

Pumpkin Biscuits

Pumpkin Milkshakes (for the brave people)

… and Jerry brought some of the most amazing pumpkin chip dip ever. Honestly.

… and he also brought toasted pumpkin seeds.

And for non-pumpkin lovers, I also made:

Grasshopper Pie

Spiced Cider

and

Chocolate Zucchini Cupcakes. (thanks Dave and Trina!)

Add all that baking to homework and a small social life, and you’ve got one very tired Diane.

Here are some pictures from the event: (What these pictures don’t show are the 24-26 people that we managed to cram in to our room for an hour or more)

Most of the food (some things aren’t in this picture)

It was a blast for all, and we enjoyed having so many friends for once. Ha.

Anyways, I should be off to class!

Love, Diane

    1. I also hate that you are going to leave a couple of your closest friends ever (I assume I am included in that couple).
    2. Awesome poem! Remember how I need to read poetry to become more in-tune with my emotions? I’ll just read yours!
    3. I like the picture of me driving. Other than being able to see how pointy my nose is.
    4. I am currently holding my arms in the same position as the pumpkinfest picture…it’s just so attractive.
    5. I LOVE YOU ROOMMATE!
