“I Don’t Want You to Leave Before You Kiss Me”

MY My my. I’m gonna have to admit that I LIED when I said my next post would be from IOWA…Two posts in One week? Especially since my summer average has been… one or two per month? Dude, I’m spoiling you. This song you hear is one I randomly found on a friend’s MySpace. I like it. So I’m making you listen to it. Hee hee!
Anyways, I decided to play a fun game: find out exactly how PRODUCTIVE I was this summer! (Woot woot!)This is my first summer with a job rather than going to somewhere cool – like Germany or New York City. :-P I posted this to-do list at the very beginning of summer Let’s see how many things on my to-do list I accomplished:

1) Work hard at the Museum of Glass: I worked there every weekend for 1.5 months… I say that’s good enough

museum_of_glass.jpg

2) Brush up on my German: Uh… woops. I did teach a few Target co-workers how to swear in German, though. Does that count?

Darn.

3) Paint at least 4 quality paintings:
Ok… so I started painting 3 crappy paintings. Want to see them? (yes, I know they aren’t good… or even finished. I don’t even know why I am posting them)

And I designed 6, yes S-I-X, paintings for next semester! That means the hardest part of painting class is over! Woopie! I’m very excited to do these too… I’m returning to SUBJECT MATTER (meaning… I’m laying off of complete abstract for a little while. Don’t worry, it’ll be back. ;)

4) Create a website for the Dordt Pro-Life club: with the help of this lovely program:

I have done this! Woopie! It will be online within a week’s time!

Yay for Dordt Defenders for Life!

Here is a screen shot example of the front page:

5) Find a paying job ;): Well… if you can consider this a paying job… just kidding. T-World!

6) Go Backpacking with my dad and brother a few times: So I went backpacking with Dad once, and hiking with Jonny and Laura once. I think that’s good enough.

7) Assure that I am both of my nephew’s favorite Aunt: Duh! Who doesn’t love an aunt that gives you your first Cheeto?

8) 8) Research graduate schools – and visit UW and Portland State: ok… so I visited Portland State. I didn’t get to see too much, but I think a pair of really cool cousins have convinced me that I need to get my master’s there. :) (sorry that I am recycling so many pictures… I don’t have any other ones.)

9) Relax. Turn 21. Get sunburnt. Ya’know… the usual summer things to do.:
So… I may have overdone this one. I definitely wasn’t planning to meet a bunch of crazy co-workers that I’d fall in love with. God must’ve decided to give my usually stunted social life a break. :) Thanks! OH WAIT – I DIDN’T GET MY YEARLY SUNBURN! Well… I guess I still have a little time in Iowa for all that, eh?

picture-5.png

Ok… well. I’m pretty sure I can guarantee that my next post will be from my lovely dorm room in Iowa. I’m so psyched to live with my Laura again… this is our Two-Year anniversary! How sweet!

God has definitely been good to me. I’m not allowed to complain ever again. Slap me if I do.

Have a good week, everybody! Let me know what you are up to!

“I’ve thought of quitting, but this heart wasn’t gonna buy it”

I’ve been addicted to this song for the past month. Man it makes me smile – Michael Buble is amazing. Unfortunately, I hear he is being overplayed on the Radio. Grr… I hate it when my favorite artists become popular.Well, summer is almost over. I’m kind of at a stand still with how I feel about this. Not only did I meet some of the most amazing people in the world (my Target Co-Workers!!!)
picture-1.pngpicture-3.pngpicture-3.pngpicture-2.pngtarget.jpgbut I am also scheduled to live with some pretty amazing women next semester!

not only that, but it’s already decided that next semester is going to be the “BEST SEMESTER EVER!” Pass the word along!

I’m almost done packing… it’s been easy. Doing my last free laundry for a while…

And I’ve been rapidly scheduling my Germany trip. I’ll be back from Dordt the 21st of December… I leave for Germany on January 3rd…

Yikes.

Yes I am nervous. I have a week after graduation to put my life back together and head off to Germany… where I’ll be until MID-AUGUST.

That is quite the commitment. :-/

All this to say… my tummy is full of butterflies… I wish I could be in both Iowa and Washington at the same time.

Sorry such a boring post… I just needed it.

Next time I’ll post from Iowa.

Have a good one, ya’lls!

“Nothing tastes as sweet as what I can’t have…”

Ok ok ok! After being nagged by a few choice family members, DianeFeucht.com will be updated.

Chill out! Since this post is mainly about Laura, Here is our music video:

Let’s see… last post was on my birthday. Geewhiz, I have a lot to catch up on.

Well day after my birthday, my roommate from Wisconsin, Laura, visited.

We did lots of fun stuff, including:

Spending the day at Point Defiance park, driving on the 5 mile drive and having a wonderful picnic with some booze. :)

We went to the zoo to see the lions, monkey, puffins, handicapped elephants (hee hee) and of course, the penguins and beluga whales.

The next day we took her to Seattle. Sammy got to eat his first Cheeto – without his parents knowing (hahaha!) That is what happens when you leave me alone with my nephews for long enough!

Laura had her first Gelato (not nearly as good as the stuff in Europe, though):

picture-5.png

We went to the first starbucks ever – nummy… :-D

picture-6.png

And Laura got to ride on her first Ferris Wheel:

The next day I took Laura on a hike on Mount Rainier. It was great.

picture-9.png

Here is proof that we hiked: us all sweaty and yucky at the top. But dang, don’t we look good? Haha

And…

the next day we went to the Puyallup Farmer’s Market:

picture-13.png

I also showed her around the museum of glass where Laura actually attempted (and did extremely well at) a linocut!!!:

here is her lovely artwork:

Yup. And here’s what I did (remember that it prints in reverse):

Laura loved the glass:

Later that evening, Sarah and Andrew hosted a birthday party for me and Sammy. In the evening Autumn, Ali and Hilary all came over so we went together to TGI Friday in order to get some drinks to celebrate my 21st. I don’t have any pictures of that, but here is Laura and I afterwards, our last time sharing a bed together (which apparently, for Laura, was an interesting experience. :) )

Let’s just say, I think I managed to give Laura the least relaxing vacation ever. I don’t think you are supposed to come back from vacation looking like this:

Beyond all that Jazz, I’ve been your normal working girl. Target and the Museum of glass have claimed my life. However, I worked my last day at the Museum last Saturday! And my last day at Target is on Wednesday.

Besides work, I’ve been hanging out with some friends that I am going to have a heartache when I have to leave them.

picture-20.png

(that is Michaele, me and Isaiah – some of my neat-o coworkers I’ve been hanging around.)

Well I hope y’all are having a wonderful end of the summer. I still have a few more adventures – like backpacking with my dad and a trip to WISCONSIN!

Lemme know what all of you are up to… it seems like it’s been so long since I’ve been in blog world. :-P

Love, the Deeds.
