“Oh God of progress - have you degraded or forgot us?”
***GOOD NEWS! COMMENTS ARE BACK!!!*****
Yup, I fixed it! I’m sooo proud of myself.
Anyways, what you want to do is click on the title of the post and fill out the comment box!!! I expect getting millions of comments now… (yeah right).
I hope you all like the new site…
This is for you mom: I want to you to give Sufjan Stevens another try. This song - called “Come on, Feel the Illinoise” - is less airy, yet it’s still beautiful
And Sufjan does have some very good Christian themes in his music - you can see the lyrics here.
Yes, I have a new website theme… It’s a bit cleaner but also more allusive. The “pull” tab in the top right corner is actually a button… so press it.
Also, there is no longer the ability to write comments on DianeFeucht.com, which I figure is ok because the only people who comment is Sarah and Mom who both talk to me on an almost daily basis anyways. If you still want to talk to me, feel free to use the contact form in the top menu (which you can see when you pull the pull tab )
or email me at dnfcht@dordt.edu
I’m starting the change of making this website more professional looking. The portfolio will be the next thing to change.
Anyways, I have pictures! Woopie!
First are two lovely pictures taken during Art History class:
This is Mallory and Dave “therapizing” me. I still have no idea what that means.
Mallory took this picture of Dave in middle of class. Did I mention she forgot to turn off the flash? The whole class kind of stopped… and Professor VanWyk looked a little confused.
Ok enough people, here is some artwork:
Remember this painting?
Remember when it turned into this painting?
Guess what? It changed again! To this painting:
The project is to make a seven-layer painting, and I think I’m done. I really like it. When you look at it, think about it kind of as a playground for your eyes.
I have called it “sun showers” - a tribute to Washington weather.
Next is sculpture:
I don’t remember if you remember the last time I showed this sculpture, but now it currently looks like this:
I’m ready to tell you all what it means!
If you remember, I am doing a series on hands right now. The assignment for this project was minimalism - so I decided to do a study on what a hand can contain.
Therefore, I squeezed a piece of clay, the figited with it to make the design 360 degrees aesthetically appealing, then I used that as a model to make the big sculpture!
So this sculpture’s name is “Grip”. I hope you all like it.
Finally, on Thursday last week, I was having a bad day. My eye was in pain, my iron levels were low, and I wasn’t in the best of moods. So I do what every normal art major does when they are grumpy, and I headed off to the art room.
I was listening to Sufjan Stevens at the time, and the lyrics from the song “Oh God, Where Are You Now?” really seemed to resonate with me:
“Oh God, hold me now
Oh Lord, hold me now
There’s no other man who could raise the dead
So do what you can to anoint my head
Oh God, where are you now?
Oh Lord, say somehow
‘The devil is hard on my face again
The world is a hundred to one again.’
Would the righteous still remain?
Would my body stay the same?
Oh God, hold me now
Oh God, touch me now
There’s no other man who could save the dead
There’s no other God to place our head”
I do love Sufjan Stevens.
Anyways, long story short… six hours later and I looked up and I had this on my canvas (this is a relatively big painting by the way):
I’m a little scared of showing this one to my art prof… I don’t know if I’ll turn it in as an actual assignment.
Anyways, I have a heck of a weekend coming up! We’ll see if I post again relatively soon. Mom I’ll call you either tonight or tomorrow night! I love you!
Have a good weekend everybody!
Love, The Deeds
