“Suddenly I see; this is what I want to be!”

Song of the Week: “suddenly I see” by KT Tunstall. I usually hate pop, but it’s impossible to not be happy while listening to this song. That is my kind of music.

(By the way, by listening to the song I link to, you usually can tell what mood I was in while writing the post :) )

Lots of good things to show, so be ready for it!
1) The art show went smashingly. We were all beautiful, and nothing went wrong. We have an AWESOME GROUP of juniors. Thank you so much to all the people who attended the show - it mean A LOT to all of us.

Here are some pictures that I stole from Mal:

Picture 171.png This is the tower of cups that Mal was very proud of

Picture 52.png Me and Mal after the show

Picture 111.png Me, Andrew (Andrew and I will be PLIA leaders together this spring break) and Dave before the show.

It was a nice night.

2) Then afterwards, Jason, Amanda and I went out to go see a movie:

Picture 181.png

It’s called Catch and Release. STUPID MOVIE! Under no condition should you watch it. The commercials make it seem like a good movie, but unfortunately, it sucks.

3) The next day Amanda, Jason and I got together after the big Dordt/Northwestern game, and ordered pizza, watched “My big fat greek wedding”

Picture 191.png

and Amanda and I made the best chocolate cake in the entire existance of mankind. I mean - we did it from scratch - none of that boxed crap. We even made the frosting from scratch.

The Yumm yumm cake:

Picture 201.png

Jason even helped out a little:

They Match!

Picture 221.png

I would offer you some of this marvelous cake, but unfortunately a horde of hungry people (named my sister’s room, my room, amanda, Jason, and other various people throughout the day) have devoured it. It was that good.

3)  Sunday, not much got done. But Laura and I ended up goofing around pretty much the whole day.

It started when we decided to switch computers and talk to people as though we were the other person. Interesting things happened.

Then… well… I don’t think these pictures need much explanation:

Picture 161.pngPicture 151.pngPicture 121.pngPicture 141.pngPicture 112.pngPicture 10.pngPicture 81.pngPicture 71.pngPicture 61.png

Sorry there are so many of them… I had trouble narrowing down the good ones. I believe we took about 40-50 pictures total. Great procrastination method, I tell you.

4) Shoes. I just realized I have a lot of them:

Picture 231.pngPicture 241.png

Not only that, but earrings as well:

Picture 25.png

Darn it, I’m becoming boring.

Ok one last thing:

5) Here is a sneak preview to my first ever sculpture. This is only a maquette (a small, not very detailed version of what i am planning to do) You’re lucky if you can distinguish any subject matter at all:

Picture 26.png

Welp, if you can’t tell, life is going pretty well so far. I’ll post again in the near future.

(Mom - sorry it was so loud when you called, me and Laura where groovin’ to some good ol’ rap.  I think I may be half black - that’s the only thing that can explain my mad skillz. :) )

Love y’all!

“That’s where I belong, and you belong with me - not swallowed in the sea”

I’ve had this song stuck in my head for the past week… so listen to it. It’s by Coldplay, called “Swallowed in the Sea”, and was recently added to the list of songs that can make me cry inside… yup in the inside.

Only one song has successfully made me start bawling in real tears; “left and leaving” by the weakerthans… What the heck, I should permenantly have that song linked on my website. Here it is. Listen to it. Love it.
Anyways, my to-do list is monsterous. So, naturally I turn to the wonderful dianefeucht.com as my procrastination method. Hey, my parents have to know what’s going on in my life, right? Especially since I no longer posess the power to call them (cough… need…cough… phone cards…cough)
Ok… life.
I have been the biggest klutz today. Ask my roommates. It’s getting really really really bad. I’m not allowed to touch anything anymore, because chances are it will break, spill, fling, or flip.

And another point of interest - today is my half birthday! Meaning, only 6 more months until I am 21. Mom, your youngest kid is about to be 21 (if we don’t count your cat)- how do you feel about that?

And another thing - the junior art show opening is on Friday at 6:30pm in the campus center art gallery. BE THERE! SUPPORT YOUR JUNIOR ART MAJORS! Here’s picture of what some of it looks like (clicking makes it bigger):

Picture 110.png

I was talking to another art friend over break from a different college, and I’m very happy to go to a college that strives to have art as a big part of the campus. Heck, we are even forced to put our work on the walls, whereas other people have to fight to make their art public. Go Dordt!

I’ve been cooking for people a lot lately. Before you know it I will be a domestic god-DESS! I’ve never had so much food in my refrigerator before. I don’t know how that is at all interesting… oh well.

Oh dear… dare I mention the duck cake I made?

(Be prepared to laugh at me)

Here it is:

Picture 24.png

first person to say that it looks like it’s topped with cheese will experience the wrath of Diane. :)

I’m sure my sister sarah is having a good laugh… for some reason she can make this cake look better than I can. there is a hole on the other side, and I’m afraid that it tastes gross. I’ll find that out in an hour when I bring it to sculpture class… wrapped up in a box where no one can see it. :)
But I made it for a friend’s 1/2 birthday, so at least I’m trying to be a nice person.

Anyways… more interesting things. Hmmm. I’m out. Anything interesting happening in your guys’ life? Do share.
I’m a very busy person. And I should be busy right now, but I’m not. So I’m going to go be busy.

Have a good day, y’all!

“You’ve got this, I’ve got that… we’ve got these things called lives.” (MindHead)

IN attempt to be supercool, and to steal one of David’s great ideas… and after being told that no one knows the songs that I reference in the title of my songs, I will have the newest post have the song LINKED so you can listen to it, and know how wonderful these bands are.

And today’s song is…. “Baby, let’s go for a ride” by Mindhead.

Anyways, I suppose I should update for my parents’ sake… even though I don’t feel like it.

School this semester is going to be painful… probably the busiest semester I’ve ever had.

Here’s my schedule:

I LOVE FRIDAYS!!!

Anyways… not much to say. I had to go on an RA retreat this weekend, then on Saturday Amanda, Jason, and I went to Sioux falls where we went shopping, changed into our new outfits, then went out to eat at the lobster shop…

where for the first time ever…

I ate Crab!

And… it’s ok. I think it will take some getting used to before I love it.

These people are cute together:

And I love Amanda:

Picture 31.png

Kind of creepy? Yes!

Picture 41.png

Ok I’m done.

Parents: I don’t have a phone card. Call me on M/W/F if you want. And try calling me when I’m awake next time :)

And yes, this website theme is staying. I decided I like it.

:)
Have a good one, y’all

“O Lamb of God, I come, I come”

(My website is currently having problems that I will fix when I get back to school. SO ugly theme will leave… soon.)1. I’ll be back at Dordt in ONE DAY! (yay!) I came with one partially filled suitcase, and am leaving with two stuffed ones.

Hmm… I wondered what happened :) (Yo amo mis padres)

2. I’m done with the solar system room. (yay!) Unfortunately, I failed to take pictures of it. So unless Sarah does it sometime in the future, too bad for you.

(I decided that my favorite planet is Venus. People used to think that venus was almost exactly like Earth - and possibly even able to live on. But in reality, it’s a big swirl of gassy clouds that rain sulfuric acid, and the surface is a big earthquaky mass covered in volcanos.  Muahah!)

3. I know what song I want played at my funeral now. (YAY!) (FAMILY - TAKE NOTES!)After all this talk of funeral hymns, I finally found the perfect one for me: and the hymn is…. “Just As I Am”  by Charlotte Elliot. Not your usual funeral hymn, but I declare it shall be there!

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Hath broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, of that free love
The breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
Here for a season, then above,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

4. My sister Sarah is mean; she has made me addicted to one of the most awesome shows that ever existed: VERONICA MARS. (YAY!)

I AM HOOKED! I NEED TO FIND A VERONICA MARS ANONYMOUS, because I’m even dreaming about it these days! NOOO!

and I officially love this guy (sigh) He better not be killed off any time soon. I might cry.:

Image:Logan Echolls.jpg

5. I made a quiz! (yay!) Sarah had previously made one, and I scored 100%. I guess I just know her too well. :) Well… let’s see if she can get the same from me! (family is required to take this quiz……….)

CLICK HERE TO TAKE THE RANDOM DIANE QUIZ!

Ok……………. next post will be from good ol’ Iowa. I hope you are all had a super break!

“This modern love… breaks me!” (bloc party)

I haven’t posted in a very long time.

And now I’m scared to post because too much has happened.

And I don’t want to bore any of you.

Because the reason I haven’t posted is because I’ve been crazy busy (in a very good way)

So…

Here is a brief description of my break thus far:

Loved and played with my dear nephews

Picture 7.png

Picture 6.png

…and my family

Picture 5.png

Visited my grandma in Portland for probably the last time… :(

Picture 8.png

Went Downhill skiing…

Picture 9.png

Got the sweetest Christmas presents ever… even though I specifically asked for nothing:

Picture 1.png
Picture 3.png
Picture 4.pngPicture 11.png

(I got a lot of cookbooks… like 6 of them. I wonder if my parents are trying to tell me something?)

I’ve been doing a lot of baking… (I’m getting good at it!)
Picture 14.png Picture 13.png

and I’ve been doing a lot of eating… (i’ve been getting very good at that as well!)
Picture 15.png Picture 16.png

And consequently, I will be doing a lot of working out…

Picture 17.png

But I did manage to find my NEW FAVORITE RESTARAUNT EVER: (it’s in portland… my dad ate there a lot as a teenager and it’s goooooood)

Picture 18.png
(Believe me… this restaraunt (sayler’s) is nothing short of amazing.)

Applied for… and was granted!… a summer internship to Tacoma’s Museum of Glass: (yay!)

Picture 12.png

Painted my nephew’s bedroom - going from an ugly tan and greeny-brown to a beautiful dark blue:

Picture 19.png

… and soon I will be painting a solar system mural in the room. Pictures will follow once I do it!

my sister’s in-laws came to visit:

Picture 20.png

And I got sick on Christmas day :( :

Picture 21.png

… but I’m still alive!

Played a lot of games with the fam… and loosing a lot:

Picture 22.pngPicture 23.png

Yeah. SO I’ve been busy… and I have a lot of things left to do. I think I’m going to try and find another job for this summer… possibly at starbuck’s or cutter’s point. I also have that room to finish painting and some websites to design… man! And I have yet to mess around with my high school class.
Anyways: I leave with three very funny videos of my nephew, Patrick.

1: Patrick NOT singing at the Christmas Pageant.

2: Patrick giving us his own private preformance of previously mentioned pageant.

3: Patrick showing how entertaining eating Turkey can be. (I dunno if this one is working… hmm)

Oh man. I love that little boy like no one can understand.

Ok, there I posted.
Have a good one y’all! ;)
